Rachel Cherian, Partner, KPMG Canada

Rachel Cherian is a Partner in KPMG Canada’s financial services audit practice, focused on the asset management and insurance sectors.
Rachel has 13 years of experience working in the life and P&C insurance sectors, where she leads external audits of financial statements and OSFI regulatory requirements. She oversaw various engagements for clients transitioning to IFRS 9 and IFRS 17, and has experience in analyzing controls and financial reporting processes for insurers post-IFRS 17 adoption. She regularly advises on accounting changes for IFRS 9, IFRS 17 and IFRS 18, provides insights into industry-leading practices for insurers, and delivers various industry training sessions.

Ladi Olatunji is a Senior Manager in KPMG Canada’s Financial Services Audit practice with nine years of experience providing audit and assurance services. He has extensive experience in the insurance sector, including leading large insurance audits in both Canada and Ireland and supporting Canadian insurers through the transition to IFRS 17. His experience spans financial statement audits, internal controls and other assurance services under IFRS and Canadian accounting standards.

Dhaneal Kapadia is a Senior Manager in KPMG Canada’s Department of Professions Practice group with 8 years of experience providing audit and assurance services. He has extensive experience in the insurance sector, including leading large insurance audits and supporting Canadian insurers through the transition to IFRS 17. His experience spans financial statement audits, internal controls and other assurance services under IFRS, US GAAP and Canadian accounting standards.

Doug Porter, Chief Economist and Managing Director, BMO

Douglas Porter is Chief Economist at BMO Financial Group, where he leads the bank’s economic forecasting team and oversees macroeconomic and financial market outlooks. With more than 30 years of experience, he is a widely respected commentator on economic and financial trends and is frequently featured in national media. Prior to joining BMO, he worked at the Bank of Canada and other Canadian financial institutions. Douglas Porter, CFA, holds a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Western Ontario.
