SEMINAR PRESENTERS

         
     

Rishan Lye, Partner, BDO Consulting

Rishan is a distinguished technology leader with over 17 years of experience leading software engineering teams, and helping organizations with their technology strategies. He has extensive experience leading global projects in natural resources, health care, finance, retail and media. Rishan started as a software engineer with strong problem solving and analytics skills.

Rishan is also a member of BDO’s Natural Resources group that services over 100 customers in mining and oil & gas. He has helped some of the largest global mining companies in Brazil, Chile, Tanzania, South Africa, USA and Australia roll out analytics solutions and enterprise systems.

 

 In addition to mining, Rishan has worked closely with large telecom and financial services organizations to provide advisory services, and lead teams in implementation projects. He has advised governments on cloud strategy, including the cloud-based implementation of one of the largest government offshore registers.

         
         
     

Daryl Senick, Partner, BDO Consulting

Daryl is a results-driven IT executive focused on strategic planning, execution excellence, and delivering value for our clients through the BDO Technology Solutions Practice.  National responsibility for managing and growing the BDO Technology’s practices of Data Analytics, Application Modernization, Digital & Collaboration, and Productivity Automation.  

In addition, Daryl is BDO’s national Industry lead for Insurance serving P & C, Health, and Life insurers, as well as Brokerages, TPAs, and Associations, with Assurance, Tax, and Advisory solutions to enable successful business transformation. We have assisted hundreds of clients looking to streamline their businesses and make technology work for them, winning many awards along the way.

Scott Gilfillan, CPA, CA, Partner, Assurance, PwC

Scott is a partner based in PwC's Waterloo office, specializing in assurance. Scott has over 17 years of experience in audit and accounting advisory services, including with PwC's Wellington, New Zealand and London, Ontario offices.

Scott's past and current clients include Life and P&C Insurers and Brokerages, Pension Plans, Co-operatives, Commodities, and other industries. Scott is a graduate of the University of Waterloo and has lived and worked in Southwestern Ontario for most of his life, returning to Waterloo four years ago with his wife and two children.

         
         
     

Abdul Majeed, Manager, IFRS 17, PwC

Abdul is part of PwC's IFRS 17 accounting team in Toronto. Before joining PwC, Abdul have worked for EY Financial Accounting Advisory team in UAE and also been part of EY Audit group. Abdul have also been part of KPMG Bahrain for over a year in 2014. 

Abdul primary focus has been on Banking, Insurance, Mutual funds and Oil & Gas clients. He has an overall experience of more than 11 years and has worked with ‘Big Four’ firms throughout his career.

Abdul is an associate member of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP). He is also a graduate from Karachi University.

         
         
     

Amit Chalam, Senior Manager, Audit, KPMG

 Amit Chalam is a Senior Manager in the Toronto Financial Services practice, and specializes in the insurance industry.  He has spent close to 16 years performing accounting and process advisory services and financial statement audits.  Previously, he worked in KPMG’s New York City office.  He has worked with a wide variety of insurance companies including general insurers, life insurers, mortgage insurers and reinsurers.
