Meet the CIAA President
After four years on the CIAA Board of Directors, I am pleased to assume the Presidency. It was an easy decision. The CIAA has provided me with quality professional development and an opportunity to build a network of colleagues across Canada. It’s time to give back.
These are challenging days for a niche Association like ours. There’s been much merging and acquiring and budgets are under constant constraint. We need to continually evolve and pivot in order to be relevant and sustainable. With Adrian Serge’s help, we’ve forged stronger ties with the accounting firms and launched a Premier Plus Partnership program. We welcome our inaugural partners KPMG LLP and PwC LLP. Their financial support will help subsidize our agenda throughout the year.
I welcome five new Board Members and thank those who have returned for another term. It’s always prudent to have a mix of new blood and experienced people around the table.
In 2016 we shifted our seminars to a breakfast time slot. This move has been a smart one. Attendance is up and in fact, we sold out the last two seminars. In 2017 we offer our Advanced course at the Nottawasaga Inn. Renamed “Innovative Strategies for the P&C Industry” it’s sure to be well-attended as it takes attendees to a higher level of competency. Our flagship course – the Fundamentals of Accounting – is offered annually and also resides at the Nottawasaga.
As always, look to the web for news and we’ll continue to send out e-blasts to members. My email is below. Any comments are appreciated and your suggestions will be thoughtfully considered.
