Discussion on real life AI use cases in insurance and finance, including emerging technologies. Session will also focus on how to build an AI roadmap that aligns with business strategy and delivers measurable impact. Learn how to identify high-value use cases, avoid common pitfalls, and embed responsible AI principles from the start.

Speakers

Brenda Vethanayagam, Partner, Risk Services, AI Trust.
Brenda leads the AI Trust practice at PwC Canada. The practice brings together specialists from across the firm to put the right risk management, governance, and compliance measures around AI systems to build trust. She currently leads the risk stream of PwC Canada’s own AI Transformation.

Brenda has advised major financial institutions on AI risk strategy and third-party risk, and on strengthening the policies that govern both. Previously, she spent more than five years leading Technology and Operations audit for one of Canada's Big Five banks, working through demanding regulatory and technology environments. With deep expertise in assurance, digital transformation, and emerging tech risk, she builds trusted AI solutions by embedding robust risk frameworks across the AI lifecycle.

Laura Sarpong, Director, Assurance

Laura has spent her career in assurance at PwC in Canada and the UK, and served as chief of staff to the leaders of the Canadian practice. Her focus is AI strategy in financial services and insurance: where it fits in the business, how it affects governance, and what it means for the trust that boards and regulators place in these institutions.

Jeff Liebusch, Senior Manager, Assurance
Jeff works with organizations to turn AI from a talking point into results they can measure. His background is in financial services and insurance, where he helps business and technology leaders at the firm identify where AI can realistically be applied, work through the practical hurdles of implementation, and keep the strategy grounded in the organization's actual goals. His work is a matter of translation: putting technical ideas into plain terms, and getting business and technology teams moving in the same direction.
