Continuous education is the cornerstone of the CIAAs mission. Each year we strive to organize events that will capture the attention of Members and encourage their participation.
Annual Insurance Accounting Course (Fundamentals of Accounting)This introductory course is conducted in June of each year. Sixty to 80 students learn the ‘nuts and bolts’ of insurance accounting to earn a Certificate of Achievement and get the opportunity to network with industry colleagues. Seminars/Luncheon SpeakersEvery year, the CIAA hosts regular seminars and luncheon speakers in Toronto on topics of interest to Members. The seminar leaders are experts in the insurance field and bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table. Annual ConferenceThis flagship event brings together members, speakers, presenters and exhibitors from across Canada to meet, learn and network. Workshops and plenary sessions give participants an opportunity to learn about developments and trends in the insurance world. Attention is also given to a first-class social program that takes advantage of the city we visit. Winning Strategies for the P&C Industry (advanced course)Twenty to 30 students gather every two years to hone their skills and increase their levels of proficiency in financial management. It is designed to help you understand where the industry is going, the challenges facing professionals and how you can prepare. A certificate is awarded upon successful completion of the Advanced course. P&C Insurance Finance 101In 2010 the CIAA launched a new half-day seminar entitled P&C Insurance Finance 101. The course is designed to educate staff/and or directors on insurance concepts, in a interactive, non-threatening way, on-site for the convenience of the organization. Piloted in February 2010 with the Board of Directors and finance leaders of the Farmers' Mutual (Lindsay) the course was delivered by Glenn Taylor, CIAA Board Member. "It was a win-win for the Farmers' Mutual," reports Glenn. "Everyone was on the same page with respect to their understanding of insurance concepts, and how they manifest themselves in the financials. The seminar is an efficient way to educate your people." The CIAA encourages Members to consider this seminar for your organization. Contact any CIAA Board Member or Glenn Taylor (glenn.taylor@rbc.com) for further information. TOP OF PAGE |
